Will WPF/E destroy Flash, Flash Lite and Java ME?

Last November, I wrote about Sun needing to up the pace of innovation with Java ME if they want to keep up with Flash Lite. Now, Microsoft may be about to trump both Sun (Java ME) and Adobe (Flash/Flash Lite).

Microsoft’s plans for WPF/E are starting to look pretty impressive: a well-designed technology; great free and paid developer tools; and support for programming WPF/E using a real programming language - C# on multiple platforms (not all platforms, but several).

I suspect that developers will enjoying writing WPF/E applications a lot more than they like wriiting Flash applications. And they’ll be more productive too. Adobe has Flex in the wings, and Sun is open sourcing Java - it will be interesting to see who wins the innovation war. One thing is for sure - where there used to be two main players in this game, there are now three.
