The Buzz Around RSS & Atom…

Technorati lets you monitor blogs according to how they’re tagged, via building live self-updating charts. This doesn’t capture everything of course. Not every blogger adds specific tags to describe the details of the posts; and people user different tags to describe the same concepts. However, these charts probably do give a pretty good feel for what people are blogging about. Below are two charts: the chart on the left is for blogs tagged “RSS”; the chart on the right is for blogs tagged “Atom”.

Because the charts are self-updating, you always have a current view. As of today, 30 January 2006, on average, there seem to be around an order of magnitude more blog posts about RSS than about Atom. In absolute terms, there are around 50 to 100 posts every day that are tagged RSS; and about 5-10 posts every day that are tagged Atom.

It will be interesting to return to this post from time to time, to see if and how the charts change.
